HEMPSTEAD - The cause of a Hempstead home explosion remains unknown.

The blast lifted the house off its foundations and damaged neighboring homes yesterday around 2:45 p.m.

Officials say two minor injuries were reported during the incident.

The home on Perry Street was vacant and in foreclosure at the time of the explosion.

Some residents told News 12 Long Island they smelled gas earlier this week, but National Grid says no leaks had been reported.
