BROOKLYN - The Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn is proclaiming Jesus as the original hipster.

The church has placed ads across Brooklyn and Queens that take a fresh look at Jesus' style. It features him in a frayed robe and wearing a dirty pair of worn Chuck Taylors.

The church hopes so-called hipsters will take notice and follow in Jesus' footsteps. It says the campaign is a reminder that the Catholic church is not out of touch with today's world.

Monsignor Kieran Harrington from St. Joseph's Church says traffic on the Brooklyn diocese website increased 400 percent since the ads were put in place. They are expected to stay in place for the next several months.
