BROOKHAVEN - Town of Brookhaven officials last night rejected a plan that aimed to protect Carmans River. The plan, which was backed by both environmentalists and developers, would have moved construction plans from along the river into other designated areas in the Town of Brookhaven.Proponents say it would have preserved an additional 1,800 acres along the waterway, which runs from Middle Island to the Great South Bay. Town Council members who voted against the plan say it was simply too costly.Activists, developers agree on plan to protect Carmans RiverPublic hearing held on Carmans River preservationStudy group unveils plan to preserve Carmans River
