MEDFORD - It's well-known that dog is man's best friend, but some dogs go above and beyond, like the service canines that learned some new tricks in Medford this weekend.
Canine Companions is a training school that teaches service dogs to help people with disabilities. The school invited back all of its clients and graduated dogs for a workshop to learn new techniques and commands.
The dogs that successfully complete training at the school are matched up with disabled people to offer them a lifetime of service and companionship.
Potential clients are put on a waiting list, often for more than a year, before they're matched up with a highly trained assistance dog.
