Cardinale believes he's winner in Riverhead Democratic primary

RIVERHEAD - Former Riverhead Town Supervisor Phil Cardinale says he believes he is the winner of today?s Democratic town supervisor primary, but official results will not be known until at least tomorrow due to a computer malfunction.Suffolk County?s Board of Elections experienced problems this evening, which prevented it from reporting accurate vote totals in races across the county. Cardinale claims his opponent, business consultant Greg Fischer, conceded after receiving some results from the race. The former town supervisor says he is optimistic after numbers he saw earlier in the day indicated a strong showing.News 12 Long Island reached out to Fischer for a comment about the race, but did not receive a call back.

There were a total of 10 primaries in Suffolk County and 13 in Nassau County.
