VALLEY STREAM - Police say one person was critically injured when a car smashed through the front of a Dunkin' Donuts in Valley Stream this afternoon. The crash occurred at the Dunkin' Donuts on Sunrise Highway. Witnesses say it was chaos inside the busy shop when the Buick crashed through the front window. One witness says the car pinned a customer against the counter. The customer lost consciousness and was bleeding from the head, he says. Another witness says the driver of the vehicle was a man who appeared to be in his 70s. The driver looked shaken when he got out of the car, and said something about his accelerator, according to the witness. Officials at Nassau University Medical Center say the victim was admitted to the intensive care unit in critical condition. The victim's identity has not yet been released.
