Businesses in Elmont, Garden City look for boost from Triple Crown buzz
ELMONT - The racing buzz around Elmont, Garden City and other nearby locations meant potential big bucks for businesses, as well as homeowners.
Some residents in the area rented out spaces in their driveways for premium parking at the event. Homeowners charged anywhere from $10 to $100 per car.
Hotels and restaurants in the area expected to see a bump in sales.

John O’Connor, the branch manager of The Race Palace in Plainview, said its off-track racing facility could see between $1.5 million and $3 million in business due to the Triple Crown hype.
Under sunny skies, Belmont Park saw a record amount of people in its stand Saturday for the 146th running of the Belmont Stakes.
