Bugs spotted on Eastern Suffolk BOCES school buses

PORT JEFFERSON STATION - Some students from Eastern Suffolk BOCES are complaining about sharing their school bus with insects.

Student Marissa Martinez says she first saw the creepy crawlers two weeks ago on her ride from BOCES to Comsewogue High School.

"They were really small and clear, but you can see them running," the 17-year-old recalls. "You can see them moving in the seams of the seat in front of your face."

Martinez says she and her classmates were placed on bug-infested buses three times in the past two weeks, and she says even one of the replacement buses was crawling with insects.

Martinez's mother, Dawn, says she called Acme Bus Company several times, but was given the runaround.

A spokesman for Acme told News 12 Long Island that the buses in question have been pulled from service, and that the company is investigating.

Eastern Suffolk BOCES says it will work closely with the bus operator until the situation is resolved.
