BROOKHAVEN - Brookhaven Town Supervisor Ed Romaine today apologized for the town's response to the blizzard that left thousands snowed in for days.
Romaine, who returned home from his Jamaica vacation yesterday, held a news conference this afternoon to address the way the town handled plowing during and after the blizzard.
Though Romaine took some responsibility, he blamed the bulk of the problems on the highway department and the voters who rejected a proposal to shift control of the highway department to the town.

The town supervisor insisted the forecast wasn't bad when he left for vacation on Wednesday and says he was always in contact with his staff.
Still, taxpayers say Romaine's actions speak a lot louder than his words.
