Bridgehampton Advisory Committee unhappy with CVS building proposal
BRIDGEHAMPTON - A Bridgehampton civic group is ready to fight over what they call a supersized pharmacy on Main Street.
The proposed two-story, 8,000-square-foot CVS drugstore is supposed to be built at the corner of Montauk Highway and Sag Harbor Turnpike.
“The traffic is totally saturated at that intersection and that corner does not support any development at all,” says Nancy Walter, of the Bridgehampton Advisory Committee.

The proposed building is nearly double the size allowed by law for a single tenant. The chain would have to apply for a special permit with the town of Southampton. CVS has not filed for a permit at that intersection, but civic leaders are worried the company will do that soon.
In a statement, CVS says, "We are very early in the development of this project and have no details to share at this time. We will be participating in Bridgehampton's approval process as this moves forward."
Civic leaders are asking the town to purchase the property and preserve it as a village green.
