FRANKLIN SQUARE - A Nassau County man accused of killing a Franklin Square dad while driving drunk and high has been sentenced to 12 years in prison.

Brian Daly, of Valley Stream, was speeding, drunk and high on cocaine when he hit a minivan on Franklin Avenue in Franklin Square last year.

Christopher DeCrescito, of Franklin Square, was killed in the crash. He was three blocks away from his home at the time of the incident.

DeCrescito’s loved ones were in court today during the sentencing.

“My husband was my whole world and we didn't even have a chance to say goodbye,” said Denise DeCrescito. “I couldn't even be there to hold his hand. He died alone in a twisted wreck because of a drunk driver.”

In court, Daly told the family, "There are no words that can fully express my guilt-ridden sorrow… I am sorry. I think about you every night. I'm fully responsible for the death of a good man."

Once Daly serves his 12 years in prison, he will also have to serve five years supervised release and have one year with an interlock device on his car. His attorney says with good behavior and time served, Daly could be released in just under 10 years.
