CENTRAL ISLIP - A Kings Park man pleaded not guilty after being accused in seven bank robberies over a two-week period.

During the robberies, police say Brian Blackford would pass a note demanding money from a teller and then flee the bank.

According to police, Blackford entered a Capital One Bank in Nesconset yesterday, approached a teller and presented a note demanding cash. The teller complied and the man fled the bank to an awaiting vehicle.

Police say a description of the vehicle was given and the vehicle was stopped by officers.

According to police, the driver, Fitzalla Coward, 51, of Brentwood, and the passenger Blackford, 40, were arrested.

Blackford was charged with seven counts of robbery. The robberies included a Capital One Bank in Deer Park on May 24, Bank of America in Commack on May 27, Bethpage Federal Credit Union in Farmingdale on May 29, Capital One in Farmingdale on June 2, TD Bank in Sayville on June 3, Citibank in North Lindenhurst on June 5 and Capital One in Nesconset on June 9.

Coward was charged with one count of robbery.

News 12 Long Island has learned Blackford had previously served 12 years in prison for the same crime.
