BRENTWOOD - The arrests of suspected MS-13 gang members in Brentwood brought some relief to an area that has seen its share of gang violence.

Residents told News 12 Long Island that more needs to be done to protect the community. They said the killings in Brentwood started long before Nisa Mickens and Kayla Cuevas were found fatally beaten last year.

"It's a bit of a relief, but we still are on watch all the time," says Ianina Wenticnk, of Central Islip. "You don't know what may happen next."

Ever Escobar, of Brentwood, told News 12 that violence is "nothing new," adding that he avoids it by staying out of trouble.

Investigators say seven suspects related to the Brentwood killings are now in custody. Two others, who they say are also included in the indictment, are still fugitives.
