RIVERHEAD - Riverhead has voted to ban booing at town board meetings.

A ban on disruptive behavior, including booing, passed by a vote of 4 to 1.

"It's hard enough for somebody to come up and speak on a subject, whether it's a pothole or a barking dog or something like that, and I don't really want to have people being booed," Town Supervisor Sean Walter says. "If they want to boo the town board, that's one thing."

The boo ban goes into effect immediately.
