Body found on Ocean Avenue in Massapequa

MASSAPEQUA - Officials say a body was found today in Massapequa.

Contractor Ben Groel says he was making repairs to an Ocean Avenue home in Massapequa when another worker heard water running at the home next door. As he was trying to turn off the water, Groel says he found a body in the bushes.

Nassau County Inspector Kenneth Lack says foul play is not suspected. He says the body is a female in her late 40s or early 50s. The connection between the woman and the house, which is in the process of being sold, is still unclear.

Neighbors say an elderly couple lived in the home until several months ago. They say the house was put on the market after the husband passed away and his wife moved to Florida.
