NEW YORK - (AP) - New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg says he wonders why police officers across the country don't threaten to strike until tougher gun controls are passed.
Bloomberg made the comment Monday night on CNN.
The mayor said he doesn't understand why officers "don't stand up collectively and say we're going to go on strike."
Bloomberg's office did not immediately provide further comment Tuesday. City Council Speaker Christine Quinn said on Fox 5 that she doesn't believe Bloomberg was advocating a strike. She said he was just angry and had a right to be. It was Bloomberg's latest push for gun control since the Colorado massacre.
