COPIAGUE - Police are trying to figure out what happened to a Copiague man with cancer and dementia who showed up at a gas station bloodied and bruised.

George Namakoudis, 60, apparently wandered from his home on the night of Dec. 1 and was next seen on surveillance video hours later, staggering up to the window of a Sunoco on Sunrise Highway and Bethpage Road.

Sgt. Robert Anderson says it's unclear at this point whether Namakoudis was assaulted or if he was injured in a fall.

Namakoudis' wife Donna says her husband told her he was beaten and robbed by three people. Authorities say three people on surveillance video have been ruled out as suspects.

Suffolk police are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.

Meanwhile, Namakoudis has since been put in a nursing home in Queens.
