MINEOLA - Skin cancer awareness advocates are again calling on legislators to pass a bill that would keep anyone under age 18 out of tanning salons. Currently, minors under 18 can use tanning salons if their parents sign a consent form. Anyone age 14 and under cannot use tanning beds at all. The bill banning anyone under 18 from tanning has twice been approved by the state Assembly, but has not yet come for a vote in the Senate, although it has nine co-sponsors there.
