BETHPAGE - Bethpage-based Bay Pyrotechnics is under investigation by authorities after its pyrotechnics show went awry in California.

Thousands of people were at the show when fireworks began shooting straight into the crowd, injuring more than 30 people. Many victims suffered burns and shrapnel wounds, while others were trampled when people tried to dodge the fireworks.

Investigators are looking into whether the pyrotechnics display was set far enough away from spectators, and if the company followed all of the necessary rules.

The company says it regretted that spectators were injured, and that it plans to publicly release the results of a thorough investigation.
