HAUPPAUGE - John J. Foley Skilled Nursing Facility employees got their layoff notices today.

About 180 county employees got a letter around lunch time from County Executive Steve Bellone's administration that said they would be terminated or reassigned to a lower position within 30 to 90 days.

Last summer, Suffolk agreed to sell the county-owned facility for $23 million to an upstate nursing home operator.

Bellone has said the nursing home must be sold or closed in hopes of closing the county's staggering budget gap.
