SMITHTOWN - Forget porridge and comfy beds, Goldilocks needs to find herself a good lawyer. A class of fifth-graders at Mt. Pleasant Elementary in Smithtown put on a mock trial for Goldilocks, who was accused of trespassing, stealing and breaking property at the home of the Three Bears. The lesson was led by Hofstra Law School professor Glenn Volgel, who travels to different classrooms to teach kids about the legal system. Vogel says some 50,000 students on Long Island have completed his program. In the trial, Goldilocks was found guilty of trespassing, but not guilty of criminal mischief and larceny.
