BROOKHAVEN - Bad news for Brookhaven beach bums: for the first time ever, town residents will have to pay to play at the town's beaches. Residents will now have to fork over $25 for a two-year pass at Cedar Beach in Mount Sinai, West Meadow Beach in Stony Brook and Shoreham Beach in Shoreham. Town officials say the money is needed due to shortfalls in the 2012 budget, but some residents say they already pay enough for beach access in taxes.
