CENTRAL ISLIP - A Long Island chef is heating things up on the hit cooking show "Hell's Kitchen."
Barret Beyer, of Central Islip, is one of 20 contestants competing in chef Gordon Ramsay's culinary contest.
Beyer says he had no reservations about jumping into the fire on Fox's hit cooking show. "I do better under pressure so to be put right into the fire, it makes me want to just go. I'm a go-getter," says Beyer.
The 36-year-old is currently working as a chef at Bread & Butter Bistro in Holtsville. He says he hopes the national exposure on "Hell's Kitchen" will help him open new doors and inspire others.
The winner of this season will receive a $250,000 a year position as head chef at a Gordon Ramsay restaurant in Las Vegas.
