UNIONDALE - Thousands of Long Islanders who are in danger of losing their homes are getting a chance to meet with their mortgage lender to discuss ways to avoid foreclosure. Bank of America is offering its customers free foreclosure-prevention counseling today through Saturday. The counseling is aimed at borrowers who are two months or more behind on their mortgage payments. By this evening, an estimated 300 people will have registered for the event, bank organizers say. It's running from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. tomorrow and Saturday at the Long Island Marriott in Uniondale. For more information, click here..
