Bamboo curtain goes up between Bay Shore neighbors

BAY SHORE - Neighbors in Bay Shore are at loggerheads over bamboo one couple grew to quickly have privacy.

But Richard Soldinger says the quick fix is a disaster in the making. He says his neighbor, Doug Aichroth, planted the bamboo about two years ago and, at the time, it was about 5 feet tall. Today it's about 15 feet tall.

Solinger said it's going to cost him $5,500 to build a 3-foot concrete barrier to stop the bamboo from invading his yard. He's taking Aichroth to small claims court.

Aichroth told News 12 Long Island he's not responsible for his neighbor's property.
