FRANKLIN SQUARE - Although today marked the last Saturday of summer vacation for many Nassau students, children were all smiles at a back-to-school event in Franklin Square.

The Atlantic Mission Community Day offered a  bouncy house, face-painting, games, crafts and more. School supplies were also handed out to families in need.

The Christ Assembly of God in Franklin Square had gathered more than 500 fully stocked backpacks for the event. Each was filled with notebooks, folders, pens and pencils.

Pastor George Chacko says the church tries to give back in some way every year.
