Babylon town supervisor considers bid for county executive

FARMINGDALE - After a decade as Babylon Town supervisor, Steve Bellone says he is now eyeing a run for Suffolk County executive.

Bellone says he's established a record of making government smaller, more efficient and effective in Babylon. He says he believes he can also do that with the county.

It is a somewhat unusual year for Suffolk County Democrats. They captured control of the county executive's office in 2003 with the election of Steve Levy.

However, since Levy switched his party enrollment to Republican last year, Democrats are now looking for someone to run against him.

Levy hasn't announced whether he will seek re-election as county executive, but says he deserves another four years.
