BABYLON - Residents in Babylon say they were taken by surprise when their houses began to shake during a 5.8-magnitude earthquake that struck a town 40 miles northwest of Richmond, Va.

One woman said she her house shook so violently that her carbon monoxide alarm was set off.

Town officials say there are no reports of injuries or damage following the earthquake. Residents, however, say their nerves are certainly rattled.
