NEW ROCHELLE - It wasn’t only the burritos being swaddled at a New Rochelle Mexican restaurant last night.

Alejandro Gonzalez and his pregnant wife, Mary, stopped into Cafe Veracruz on Webster Avenue for a take-out dinner when the mother-to-be started to feel uncomfortable and went to the bathroom.

That’s when the restaurant staff and her husband began to hear screaming. Gonzalez was able to deliver their daughter, Alexa Bella Gonzalez, before an emergency crew was able to arrive.

The newborn, who weighed in at almost 6 pounds, and her mother are resting at Soundshore Medical Center. The baby’s due date was not supposed to be until June 10.
