BETHPAGE - A Levittown man was arraigned today on charges connected to an alleged drug-fueled crime spree that spanned four Nassau communities.

Albert Garfield, 47, allegedly broke into the home of neighbor Jose Machado yesterday and beat the man with a wooden table leg. Police say Garfield left the home and then went to a car dealership in East Meadow, where he stole a car.

Garfield was arrested soon after following a car crash in North Massapequa.

Prosecutors say Garfield was both drunk and high when he went on his rampage. According to police, he has a long criminal record.

Garfield did not enter a plea at his arraignment today. A judge ordered him held without bail until a hearing next week.
