EAST MEADOW - Hundreds gathered in East Meadow for the opening of the first special needs athletic field in Nassau County.

The multipurpose field opened at Eisenhower Park Saturday.

The nonprofit League of YES played their first game at the field as well Saturday. The organization provides a baseball league for children with disabilities.

Organizers hope soccer and lacrosse will be offered at the field in the future.
