DEER PARK - The victim of a hit-and-run crash in Wyandanch last month spoke to News 12 Long Island Tuesday about the struggles he faces moving forward.

Robert Boutin, a 29-year-old Army veteran, was riding to work on his new Harley Davidson motorcycle when police say he was struck by a driver who sped off.

Authorities say Boutin was hit by a vehicle heading eastbound on Long Island Avenue that attempted to make a U-turn on South 19th Street.

Boutin says he ended up in the hospital for weeks with a fractured pelvis, collar bone and tailbone. After two surgeries, he has pins and a metal plate in his wrist and underwent reconstruction to his face.

He now requires a wheelchair in order to get around.

"I have no real memory of the accident," Boutin told News 12. "I remember riding on Long Island Avenue. That's about it."

Police are urging anyone with information about the crash to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
