WOODBURY - According to Ukrainian and Israeli media, leaflets ordering Jewish people to provide a list of property they own and pay a $50 registration fee were distributed outside a Passover service in a synagogue in Donetsk.

The leaflet says Jewish people that do not comply could face having their citizenship revoked, deportation and having their assets confiscated.

Oleg Rybalko, of Manhasset, spent the first 25 years of his life in Donetsk. He says the distribution of leaflets to Jews is aimed at stirring more bloodshed. He says he is worried about friends who still live there.

“They're afraid of the Russian troops. It's a repeat of the Crimea scenario. They can make a reason to bring the army there,” he told News 12.

Congressman Steve Israel also expressed concern. He sent a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin urging him to condemn the anti-Semitic act reported in Donetsk.
