RIVERHEAD - The annual Riverhead Blues Festival has been canceled.

For more than a decade, the annual event has drawn up to 20,000 music lovers to the Peconic waterfront.

The group that runs the festival says it can no longer afford to put the event on. They say police overtime and cleanup costs have gotten too high.

The Riverhead Business Improvement District is now planning an oldies concert to replace the festival.
