CENTRAL ISLIP - A Rocky Point teenager was killed in a crash in Central Islip early this morning.

Authorities say 18-year-old Andrew O'Connor was in the back of his friend's 2005 Acura when the driver lost control of the car and slammed into a tree along Lowell Avenue just after midnight.

Three other teens survived the crash and were taken to Southside Hospital.

Suffolk County police are trying to determine if excess speed or driver error were possible causes of the accident. They say they have no evidence of alcohol or drug involvement.

The victim's brother, Matthew O'Connor, says Andrew was a popular teen who had just graduated high school and dreamed of passing the Marine Corps entrance exam.

Police have impounded the vehicle for a safety check.
