OCEANSIDE - An Oceanside man has pleaded not guilty to arson charges for allegedly trying to torch Phat Daddy’s Pub while patrons were inside.

Alec Sapounas, 60, allegedly entered the bar through a back door and then poured and lit an accelerant, resulting in a large fire.

Police say Sapounas lives in the same building as the bar.

There were 12 people inside the bar at the time of the fire, but no one was hurt.

Sapounas is being held on $75,000 bond.
