EAST HAMPTON - A few famous faces were among those who took daring dips Friday into the waters of the East End.

Alec Baldwin joined dozens of other people for the East Hampton Polar Plunge on New Year's Day to benefit the Phoenix House, an East Hampton rehabilitation facility.

Director Richard Linklater, who helmed such films as "Dazed and Confused" and "Boyhood," also took a frigid dip into the Atlantic Ocean later in the day. That event raised money for the East Hampton Food Pantry.

The water temperature was around 50 degrees.
