Alcohol ban begins for some Fire Island beaches

The ban is in effect on Fire Island beaches in Islip.

FIRE ISLAND - Starting this weekend, alcohol is now banned at several Suffolk County beaches.

The ban is in effect on Fire Island beaches in Islip. They include those from Atlantique to Cornielle Estates near Ocean Beach.

Alcohol is also banned at Indian Wells Beach in East Hampton on the weekends and on holidays.

People caught violating the new rules will face hefty fines.
