ISLAND PARK - A Vietnam veteran has died in the aftermath of Sandy as he was cleaning out his storm-damaged house.

Air Force veteran Mo Fletcher, 64, was hauling damaged items out of his Island Park home when he collapsed and died of a heart attack. Fletcher's son Josh says his father dedicated his life to making sure fallen veterans would always be remembered by getting in contact with local politicians and attending funerals of fallen soldiers. Josh says his father was inspired to do this after his other son Jacob, an Army specialist, was killed in Iraq in 2003.

Fletcher's wake will be held in Hewlett Monday, and a funeral will be held at Long Island National Cemetery on Tuesday. He will be buried next to his son, Jacob.
