HUNTINGTON STATION - The state attorney general is announcing action against several dealerships on Long Island that may have charged car buyers illegal fees in a practice called "jamming."

The so-called jammed services are unlawful additions to the vehicle that inflate the price of cars by thousands of dollars.

State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman announced a $41,000 settlement with Generation Kia in Bohemia for deceptive business practices.

Schneiderman said the companies tacked on credit repair, which is illegal to charge for.

Schneiderman plans to sue Huntington Honda in Huntington Station for similar practices. The same goes for Nissan of Huntington in Huntington Station and Volkswagen of Huntington in Huntington Station.

The dealerships accused of jamming refused interviews with News 12.

A total of 10 car dealers in the New York area are being accused of fraud by the State Attorney General's Office.
