STONY BROOK - News 12 Long Island has learned that two Long Island hospitals are in talks to form a partnership.

A deal to join Stony Brook University Hospital and Southampton Hospital could go up for approval in the next few months.

News 12 has previously reported the hospitals signed a letter of intent two years ago.

Stony Brook's chief executive says the details are still being worked out.

The deal could bring a new medical facility to Stony Brook's Southampton campus.
