WOODBURY - Many Long Islanders are hitting the road to spend this Fourth of July on vacation, but experts say high gas prices are keeping some people home for the holiday.

AAA says some 39 million Americans are expected to travel the nation's roads this Independence Day-- a 2.5-percent drop from last year.
