LIDO BEACH - An eighth-grade boy at Lido Beach Middle School is fighting for his life after being struck by an SUV as he skateboarded to school this morning.Police say the 14-year-old boy was on the way to his graduation rehearsal at around 8 a.m. when he was struck by a white Mercedes SUV. A bus driver who is also a volunteer firefighter rushed to help him. The boy, whose identity has not been released, was not wearing a helmet at the time, according to friends who were riding with him. He was rushed to Nassau University Medical Center, where he's currently in critical condition. The driver of the SUV remained at the scene and has not been criminally charged, officials say.
