FARMINGDALE - An 88-year-old East Meadow man was reunited with an old friend of sorts today after more than six decades.

Former U.S. Army technician Bob Coleman, after whom the P51 Mustang was nicknamed "The Long Island Kid," was a crew chief when he was stationed in England in 1947. Today, he became reacquainted with the P51 Mustang at the Long Island Air Power Museum in Farmingdale.

"When the pilots would come in, they would tell me when they came in from a mission, what was wrong with the plane," says Coleman who was charged with keeping the planes in good condition.

The president of the museum says he was told some of the parts on the P51 Mustang were from planes Coleman worked on.
