73-year-old LI woman alleges discrimination against Walmart

EAST SETAUCKET - A 73-year-old widow is suing Walmart for allegedly discriminating against her after she took time off for heart surgery and a broken arm.

?It was very important to me to be working, I felt it was good for me physically and mentally,? says Anne Sqautrito, who worked at a Walmart in East Setaucket.

In a statement, Walmart said, ?Ms. Squatrito was dismissed for repeatedly failing to observe our time-clock policies. We take violations of meal and rest breaks seriously and had addressed this issue with her on various occasions."

Sqautrito?s attorney says store managers targeted her.

?What they said to her over and over and over again is, ?You're too old,? and they forced her to do things that much younger people were not asked to do, like moving these heavy, heavy packages,? says attorney Leonard Leeds.
