MINEOLA - Police say an older woman was found dead in a Mineola house fire early this morning.

According to detectives, fire officials responded to a working two-family house fire on Jackson Avenue.

Officials say 10 trucks and 85 fire officials were able to extinguish the flames. Once the fire was out, they discovered the body of a 71-year-old female in the rear bedroom on the first floor.

Police are not releasing the victim's name at this time.

News 12 has learned that two young girls live on the other side of the house but were not injured.

Arson investigators do not believe the fire is suspicious but so far, they don't know what caused it.

The fire is still under investigation.
