SOUTHAMPTON - Native American tribal members from all across North and South America were on the East End this weekend for the Shinnecock Nation's annual powwow.

The powwow is the first since the Shinnecocks gained federal recognition last October. The tribe had waited since the 1970s for the U.S. government's recognition.

Today is the final day of the tribe's yearly festivities. The powwow includes music, colorful costumes and vendors with varied merchandise and lots of food.Shinnecocks confirmed as federally recognized tribe
