MELVILLE - Melville and Huntington Civic Association Acting President Fred Gross is calling for a moratorium on a construction proposal from LBA Associates.

The company has proposed building a six-story office building on the current Fed Ex property in Melville. Gross and his supporters say the construction would add to traffic to an already congested area.

Gross says the town isn't following on its own recommendations and checking the impact a new building could have on residents.

A partner for LBA Associates say the proposed building design is consistent with current property zoning. The partner also said that spending an extra couple of minutes in traffic during certain times of day is nothing new to Long Island residents.
