6 hurt in 2-boat collision in Great South Bay

BAY SHORE - Six people have been injured after two boats collided in the Great South Bay early this morning, according to police.

Authorities say 48-year-old Brian Swezey, of Babylon, was drinking while operating his 21-foot boat when he smashed into the side of another vessel near Captree Island just after 3 a.m.

Police say the two adults and four teenagers on the other boat were all injured, including 19-year-old Michelle Posillico, who is in serious, but stable condition at Good Samaritan Hospital with internal injuries. They say the victims were heading home to Fire Island after watching the "Harry Potter" movie premiere at midnight.

Swezey and his one passenger were not injured in the accident. He is being held in Bay Shore until his arraignment tomorrow.
