EAST SETAUKET - Residents in East Setauket may soon have to pay more to fix up schools in their district.
A $56 million bond proposal is scheduled to be voted on next week in the Three Village School District.
The proposal, called the efficiency project, would go toward maintenance in all of the district's buildings, including the replacement of windows.

School officials say the buildings are old, and the heating, plumbing and ventilation systems need to be improved.
They say even though the price tag of the bond proposal is hefty, the state would pick up 66 percent of that cost.
If approved, it would cost taxpayers $119 a year over the next 15 years.
The vote is scheduled for Feb. 4 at all of the Three Village elementary schools. Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
